Recycling Facts
Plastic bag facts from www.reusablebags.com:

Each year, an estimated 500 billion to 1 trillion plastic bags are consumed worldwide. That comes out to over one million per minute. Billions end up as litter each year.

Curbside recycling has resumed for citizens inside the city limits of Pearland.  Regular trash service has been resumed.  Please keep trash separated from storm debris.  Yard debris bundles 4 ft. long, 18 in. in diameter, and under 50 lbs. will be picked up.

The Pearland Recycling Center is open and accepting recyclables during their normal business hours.

Plant Thyme Fall Luncheon and Plant Sale October 10th

Keep Pearland Beautiful (KPB) invites all to the 5th Annual ‘Plant Thyme Fall Luncheon’ in conjunction with the 4th Annual Herb Sale – at the Pearland Community Center, 3523 Liberty Dr., on Friday, October 10. Luncheon tickets are $30, with proceeds benefiting KPB projects and our new Environmental Education Center Building Fund.

Luncheon Thyme sponsor Casa Ole` will serve a delicious mouth-watering meal from 11:00a.m. to 1:00p.m. The Pearland Journal is also an in-kind Thyme Sponsor for the Luncheon. This year’s celebrity speaker will be Randy Lemmon, star of KTRH Radio’s GardenLine talk show. With over 1.4 million Houstonians gardening for a hobby or pastime, GardenLine is the source for advice and information. Randy’s a Texas Aggie who truly knows plants and flowers. Randy will not only speak at the luncheon, but will also have his new book, “Gulf Coast Gardening,” available for purchase and signing.

A silent auction will also take place in conjunction with the luncheon. This year’s luncheon will be dedicated in memory of our dear friend Joe Miller, who took great pride in making this event a success.
